Keep it Safe,
Keep it Clean
October 2007
| |
|
| Dear James,
This has been another eventful month for Sunnyside Up. New projects are starting and our relationship with Student Government is bringing some great ideas to our organization. We spent time walking thru Sunnyside with City leaders, WVU administration and interested students. There have also been some interesting discussions with landlords concerning code issues and how to make a streamlined process that serves tenents and landlords alike. The shoes are gone and WVU is 5-1. How can things get any better?
Remember: Keep it Safe, Keep it Clean.

 MAJOR PROJECTS START IN SUNNYSIDE
Several major projects kicked off in Sunnyside this past week. The Biafora Project on University Avenue began constructing a retaining wall to assist in development of a new housing complex.
Another exciting project is the Moser Project on Beechurst Avenue. Earth moving began last week and construction will begin soon.
The Square at Falling Run continues to work towards completion. The road opened last week and the landscaping continues. It is really shaping up. |
| $1000 REWARD OFFERED |
Each year, thousands of dollars of damage is done to public and private property throughout Sunnyside. In addition to the unsightly appearance, this vandalism sends a poor message to visitors and residents alike. To combat this, the Sunnyside Up Board of Directors is offering a $1000 Reward for the arrest and conviction of persons vandalizing property with graffiti. For more information, please contact Jim Hunt at 304-629-1302.

| Board Meetings |
The Sunnyside Up Board of Director's meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30AM at the offices at 709 Beechurst Avenue, Suite 30 in the Seneca Center. You are welcome to attend and share your ideas. When you visit, take a look at our new sign. It makes it a little easier to find our offices!

WHERE ARE THE SHOES? |
|
|
|
Many people are asking what happened to all ofthe tennis shoes hanging on the telephone wires. Through the excellent cooperation of Verizon's John Golden and Matt Cook, over 100 pairs of shoes were removed from throughout Sunnyside. We appreciate the work of Verizon and salute them for helping in our mission to Keep it Safe, Keep it Clean. |
| CLEAN UP SCHEDULED FOR NOV. 4 |

A major clean up in Sunnyside will be held on November 4, 2007. We are working with the WVU Leadership Club and Student Government to identfy some areas that could use some tender loving care. More information will be coming shortly.
